Christian Atheist | Week 1
What does it actually mean to believe in God? Not just to say the words, affirm the doctrines, or show up in the right places, but to truly, deeply, livingly believe?
This message takes us straight into that uncomfortable question with honesty and urgency. Drawing from James chapter 2, we are confronted with a powerful and sobering idea: a faith that does not change how we live is not really faith at all. It is a dead faith. And dead faith, as James makes clear, is practically useless. It does not help the hungry person standing in front of us when all we offer is a spiritual-sounding dismissal. It does not honor God when we sing the right songs and check the right boxes but walk out the door and live as though none of it is real.
The challenge placed before us is deeply personal. How is our life actually different because of Jesus? Not in theory, not in theology alone, but in the daily, visible, tangible way we spend our time, our money, our energy, and our relationships. This is not a comfortable question, but it is the right one. And the good news is that a living faith is not out of reach. It is available to every single one of us, and it begins the moment we stop going through the motions and start surrendering everything.
